A Few words from Pastor Debbie...

"I believe with all my heart that every child is a very special gift.  How awesome it is that God allows me to be part of shaping the lives of children and guiding them as they discover their unique gifts and purpose in the world."

Reverend Debbie Britt began serving Madison First UMC in October 2012.  Debbie has two adult sons with delightful wives (one each), five very precious granddaughters and one very spoiled grandson.  Before coming to Madison, Debbie served as Pastor for Families with Children at First Baptist Church of Decatur.  Debbie has also served as Minister to Jr. High Youth, Pastor to Children and Families, and Minister of Education in the Atlanta Metro area.  She is a graduate of DeKalb Community College, and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  Debbie has worked with children and youth both professionally and as a volunteer for over 35 years.  She enjoys teaching, leading and speaking at Children's conferences, and training.  She also finds great joy spending time with her grandchildren, and takes every opportunity to travel.  Her favorite spot is on a beach somewhere, anywhere!

MADISON FIRST UMC NURSERY

This is where we believe your children begin their faith formation.  We understand the importance of a child's early years, and we support you by planning, learning, and growing experiences for your children each time they are at church.  Here is where the Bible Stories, songs, and love for Jesus become part of your child's life.

Reverend Debbie Britt, Pastor for Children and Education and Tara DeLaigle have carefully selected a staff made up of paid as well as parent volunteers to provide a loving, safe and secure environment for your child.  Rev. Debbie believes that having a familiar face makes children feel more secure and comfortable.  Each caregiver has had a background check and has been carefully observed in their ability to care for children and interact with all children in a positive friendly manor.

Sunday Morning

Preschool children engage in an age-appropriate worship time, consisting of songs, drama and lesson.  This worship time is called 9 ALIVE KIDS, and it is designed to introduce children to God and the love that He has for them.  Our curriculum is designed to give preschool children a first impression of their loving heavenly Father.  The curriculum keeps it simple and fun, repeating basic truths about God and helping children understand worship and introduce them to small group time.  It encourages children to talk to God any time at any place.
